Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a hybrid combat sport that combines boxing, wrestling, judo, jujitsu, karate, muay thai (Thai boxing) and other disciplines.

have their roots in ancient China and Greece, where they were used as mixed combat sports. Despite its popularity, MMA has numerous technical and tactical deficiencies when it comes to real-world self-defense applications. The year 1993 is considered the official “birth year” of MMA and one of the most important events in the evolution of mixed and hybrid combat sports. MMA is a regulated full contact sport between two fighters trained in various forms of martial arts.

Mixed martial arts contests first emerged in Hong Kong's street fighting culture in the form of rooftop fighting during the mid-20th century. Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that was developed in the 1950s by combining Japanese karate, traditional Korean martial arts and some elements of Chinese kung fu.

The reference to “unrestricted” MMA would eventually come to an end with the implementation of specific safety rules and regulations.

Karate is a Japanese martial art of Okinawan origin that uses punches, kicks, sometimes elbows, knees and even a limited grip. While there are other MMA promotion companies, none have achieved the incredible success of the UFC. In the early 20th century, there was an influx of migrants from mainland China who brought with them Chinese martial arts teachers who opened martial arts schools in Hong Kong.
